Step away from the day-to-day busyness that consumes our attention to cultivate and deepen your meditation practice.
Practicing for an extended period, along with support of a group, encourages insight, compassion, and awareness. Mindfulness and loving-kindness are nurtured through alternate periods of sitting and walking meditation, loving-kindness meditation, and mindful yoga. Practicing mindfulness and loving-kindness moment to moment throughout the day can help the mind, body, and spirit find equilibrium and peace. We will observe noble silence, allowing you to rest deeply, and further develop connection and clarity. In addition to the structured meditation periods, there will be evening talks and private interviews with the instructor.
While there are many benefits of silence and extended practice, it can bring us into contact with the sharper edges of our experience. If you are in the midst of deep emotional difficulties such as post-traumatic stress, major depression or untreated addiction, an extended retreat may be better timed after you experience some stability and relief. Mindfulness training (less intense than retreat practice) as an adjunct to psychotherapy can skillfully address deep emotional suffering. Mindfulness Meditation Retreat - This 5 day silent, overnight, meditation retreat will provide the opportunity for extended practice and silence, which allows us to rest deeply, and further develop connection and clarity.
Loving-Kindness Retreat - This 5 day silent, overnight, mediation retreat focusing on the development of metta, otherwise known as loving-kindness. Loving-kindness is the practice of cultivating the attitudes of gentleness, kindness and benevolence of both the heart and mind. We foster loving-kindness though meditation thereby allowing it to manifest in an ongoing way in our daily lives.
As with all training & courses, extended retreats are also conducted by Micki Fine M.Ed., L.P.C., a certified mindfulness teacher in the Houston Metro area.
