Compassion and Awareness: Two Wings of the Bird Saturday, March 20th, 2010 - 10 a.m. - 4 pm Cost:$90 ($80 Jung Center members) 4.5 CE hours
What does it mean to have compassion for one's own experience? The practice of self-compassion has been shown to be correlated with stable feelings of self-worth and well-being. Self-compassion has been shown to buffer anxiety associated with threats to self-worth.
Mindfulness, the intentional cultivation of open-hearted, present-moment awareness, can help us to awaken from our habitual mind states that prevent us from opening to the deep compassion that is already within us. Loving-kindness and compassion meditations, which are a component of mindfulness practice, help us open further to the ability to bring compassion to ourselves and the world.
